Asheville High School fielded its first varsity men’s lacrosse team during the spring 2019 season under the leadership of Coach Luke T. MacKenzie and with the assistance of a USA Lacrosse First Stick grant.
Playing in the western-most NCHSAA conference with TC Roberson, Watauga, St. Stephens, Patton, and Hickory high schools, the Cougars fought through the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. With a growing roster, improving stick skills and an undaunted spirit the Asheville High School lacrosse program is looking forward to the coming 2022 season.
The Cougars Lacrosse Alliance is proud to organize and fund our public school varsity lacrosse team through the 2022 season under an agreement with the Asheville Board of Education. The Alliance and the varsity lacrosse program receive no public funds and rely on generous individual donations and local company sponsorship.
